I paint and draw from my imagination, be it purely abstract expression or more surreal or lifelike imagery. I like to think that a piece is created when I take in some type of inspiration, usually visual, process it and churn it around in conscious/subconscious thought, and deliver it through my hands as my skewed view on the inspirational material. I like to think when it works well I present familiar subject matter in strange or unfamiliar perspectives. When I'm not making fine art pieces I run the micro-record label Shattered Music and do free-lance album covers, poster design, and logo/graphic design.

I am inspired by beauty and creating beauty. There is nothing more thrilling than being able to create images that I myself find to be a rendering of what I find beautiful. Much of my inspiration comes from burlesque, fashion, and androginous individuals. I am a yoga teacher by profession so using the body as a form of expression is something I have always appreciated, and this comes through in my images. I use postures, colors, fashionable accessories, and exaggerated facial expressions to convey emotion in my pieces.

I was born and raised in Saint Paul, MN and I am absolutely in love with art. I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil. I attended art classes every week as an extra curricular activity on and off between the ages of 8 to 18. During that period of time I also entered in The Minnesota State Fair art competitions three years in a row winning each time; my first year entering I took best of show and first place at the age of ten. I am classically trained but I love painting pop art. Anything with bright bold colors catches my eye and is what I am most drawn to. I love the simplicity of pop art but how much it tells a story with a punch. I believe my art is a reflection of ones personality; including my own.

I believe we are all born with the innate ability to be creative- even to make art. I love helping people discover this. I am drawn to mixed media and expressive painting, very therapeutic art forms. Common themes in my art are people, nature, thoughts, and faith. I currently reside in Portland, OR, making a way for myself as an artist, and finding a variety of other ways to spread the creative love!
